Android 4.2.2 : Coming Soon on Nexus Devices

by TDC TeamFebruary 13, 2015

Android 4.2.2 has been in the buzz on Internet for long. There have been a lot of predictions and rumors about Android 4.2.2. Some of the experts expected it to be rolled out soon. There were some who even predicted it to be Android 5.0 rather than 4.2.2.

So whatever may be the rumors and expectation about Android 4.2.2, Nexus Owners have a big reason to smile as some of the  users on Reddit have reported about the rolling out of Android 4.2.2 for Galaxy Nexus and Google Nexus 7. It was earlier expected that this rolling might come when the Brazilian Nexus 4 starts shipping to users. But that prediction about Android 4.2.2 seem to be going totally false.

The Reddit user reports speaks that this rolling out has begun for only a few selected devices and have a build number JDQ39. Though, it meets the expectation of Android 4.2.2 release in mid of February 2015. The package size for this update is mentioned to be around 45MB. This looks too much in size for an upgrade. But this also enlighten people that it might have several new features. The complete roll of Android 4.2.2 is expected to take a bit of time as it is coming in waves for different devices.

If you are using Galaxy Nexus, then you can manually download the OTA Android 4.2.2 update file and install it using ADB Sideload. People on many online resources ave shared about the same. However, my expectation from this upgrade is that it won’t include too much in terms of features, but it would focus on fixes and performance. This might also include the bug of Music Streaming on Bluetooth connection which has been around for a while now.

Unfortunately, there’s nothing too exciting to report, as the update provides mainly performance and stability fixes, and allegedly fixes a bug related to streaming music over a Bluetooth connection.

Also in end as it may not have too much of new features, this gives rise to rumors of rolling out of Android 5.0 soon.  So keep your fingers crossed for the Android journey on the roll and enjoy Android 4.2.2 now.
